Awards made among prime examples of excellence seem to be seeking a way of choosing differentiations in perfection, a word that in itself connotes no omissions, flaws, or errors. Like the word ‘unique’, the word ’perfection’ cannot be modified. Yet, by presenting awards, we seem to do just that. Each car presented at the Concours d’Elegance, having been invited after a discriminating process, is believed to be perfect.

But by having awards made upon the selection of various individuals or groups, we allow the choices to stem from individual tastes, all recognizing the appeal of the automobile as a work of art. And thereby following the true tradition of Concours judging. You may see the cars in a different way than our judges, but remember that each automobile is as worthy as the next. 

Chief Judge Paul Ianuario

Paul Ianuario is a retired engineer who spent more than 30 years in the automotive supplier industry and has degrees in engineering, mathematics, and physics. The last 20 years of his engineering career were spent with Michelin Tire Corporation. During this time he and his family lived for a while in Tours, France. He is fluent in French. Paul’s love of the automobile, along with its related use and history, began at an early age and are an integral part of his lifestyle even today. more>>

The Star Award is presented to outstanding cars worthy of recognition that are not the class-winning car in their category. First awarded in 1997, The Star Award has become a Burn Prevention Network tradition. The trophy features a Moravian Star created of hand cut glass by Pennsylvania craftsmen and is mounted on a marble base. A commemorative medallion is mounted next to the star and is inscribed with the date of the Concours.

Crystal Awards are presented to all Senior Award and Best in Class Award winners. These distinctive trophies are created by internationally known glass sculptor Peter Yenawine, President of Crystal Signatures of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
