Bill Rothermal, Grand Marshall

 

Bill has had a lifelong interest in cars, both small and large.  According to family folklore while a toddler in his stroller he would amaze an audience with his ability to identify the make and model of passing automobiles!  An automotive historian and avid collector of miniature automobiles and automobilia, Bill’s interests range from the cars of the Classic Era, to muscle cars, Post-War American cars, European sports cars and automobile racing of all kinds.

 

Bill serves (since 1999) as Grand Marshal for the Lancaster (PA) Museum of Art’s Annual Artistry In Motion Vintage Grand Tour and Show and, since its inception (2002), as the Master of Ceremonies for the York (PA) Concours d’Elegance.  He has been a volunteer (since 1996) for the Concours d’Elegance of the Eastern United States serving as a judge, member of the car selection committee, member of the Cabinet, and co-anchor for the Parade of Cars alongside acclaimed automotive historian, the late- Beverly Rae Kimes; having succeeded her as Grand Marshal in 2006.  Bill also serves as a member of the Board of the Rolls-Royce Foundation Board of Directors.

 

As a freelance writer, Bill has written numerous feature articles for national, international and club publications including Antique Automobile, Auto Events, Automobile Quarterly, Car Collector Magazine, Old Cars Weekly, Total 911 Magazine, and others.  He is currently researching and preparing a book on Lancaster Pennsylvania’s early automotive history and the Charles Schutte Body Company, a custom coachbuilder from 1910-1926.

 

Bill is a 1980 graduate of Shippensburg University and is an active community volunteer, serving on the Boards of several non-profit organizations within Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.  He is an Associate Broker with RE/MAX Associates of Lancaster and resides part-time in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
