CONCOURS DISPLAY WOWS PHILLY AUTO SHOW ATTENDEES
PHILADELPHIA - One of America’s oldest Concours, the Concours d’Elegance of the Eastern United States kicked off its 20th Annual celebration with a display of vintage automobiles at the Philadelphia International Auto Show January 31-February 9, 2009. The dazzling array of vehicles showcase the 2009 Theme, “Celebrating Twenty Years of Crystal Award Winners” which will be highlighted at the campus of Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, May 30-31, 2009. Over 250,000 attendees viewed sixteen historic automobiles including the 1909 Stanley Steam Car owned by Ray and Bonnie Carr (Chester Springs, PA); Dr. Joseph and Beverly Conroy’s (Newtown, PA) 1910 Buick Model F Touring Car and 1914 Dudley Bug; a beautifully restored 1910 Maxwell Model E 5-Passenger Touring shown by Bob and Carol Robinson (Schwenksville, PA); the rare 1912 S.G.V. Roadster on loan from the collection of the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles (Boyertown, PA); a 1926 Wills Sainte Claire W-6 Roadster from the collection of the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum (Hershey, PA); Bob and Joan Miller’s (Wayne, PA) 1931 Ford Model A Cabriolet; a 1936 Jensen-Ford Cabriolet from the Three Dog Garage Collection of Ross and Beth Myers (Perkiomenville, PA); a largely-original 1953 Morgan Plus 4 Roadster owned by John Griffith (New Hope, PA); Ele Chesney’s (Toms River, NJ) spectacular 1954 Plymouth Belmont Concept Car; a very rare and stunning 1956 DeSoto Adventurer 2-Door Hardtop Coupe courtesy of Doug and Chris Dressler (Mountain Lakes, NJ); a 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 2-Door Convertible from Judy and Bob Carnevale (Gwynedd, PA); Les Schaevitz’s (Penn Valley, PA) handsome 1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith LWB Limousine, H. J. Mulliner; a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop Coupe from Bob Wood (Phoenixville, PA); the Monte Carlo Red 1960 Ford Thunderbird 2-Door Convertible from the collection of Paul and LuAnn Catinella (Gwynedd, PA); and the 1971 Jaguar E-Type Open Top Speedster from Bruce Kessler (Chalfont, PA).
